    eBay: unusually camouflaged crash-landed Bf109

Many thanks again Anders... there are indeed two full views on page 197 of "Defenders of the Reich, Volume 2" by E.Mombeek [Classic, 2002] as well as a colour side profile. Its interesting to note that the "White 4" above does not appear to have the number 4 outlined and also includes an all white fuselage balkenkreuze, both of which are features not readily seen on other Bf109G-6's with JG1 around the same period. A very interesting bird...

    eBay: unusually camouflaged crash-landed Bf109

Thanks Anders... out of interest, where are you looking at the image of "White 1" belonging to Klöpper? The closest I can get are are two images on page 539 of "Jagdgeschwader 1 und 11, Teil 1" by J.Prien & P.Rodeike [struve-Druck, 1993] which shows the tail and rudder belonging to a Bf109G-6, WNr.20272 taken on 13th Nov'43...

    eBay: unusually camouflaged crash-landed Bf109

I had a feeling that the sellers caption was wrong... but thanks for the confirmation Anders. Interesting camouflage scheme nonetheless and an apparent lack of wing armament may also enable positive identification

    eBay: Walter Dahl's Bf109G-5/6?

    eBay: Walter Dahl's Bf109G-5/6?

I agree Anders, I too am fascinated by these light coloured Bf109's. Here is what is captioned as another JG3 Bf109G, also wearing light coloured scheme which is reproduced from "Messerschmitt Bf109F, G & K Series" by J.Prien & P.Rodeike [schiffer,1995] and makes an interesting comparison with the fantastic images above.

eBay: ID of Bf109E "Yellow 3"?

As an aside to Rabe's comment, the Mombeek volume is the one discussed and reviewed here

    eBay: early WGr21 equipped Bf110s?

Agree with the Zerstorerschule 2 theory Chris. There are several similar examples of Bf110B, Bf110C, Bf110D & Bf110E's serving with this unit on pages 134 to 154 of "Die Deutsche Luftwaffe, Zerstorer und Nachtjagdverbande, Teil 2" by Meyer & Stipdonk (VDM, 2007] although its worth noting that none match the spiral spinner and WGr21's equipped example photographed below...

eBay: What Bf109 sub-type is this?

Can't help there... model mags are something of a rarity on my library shelf!

Cheers for that Goran... I've merged the two threads together

eBay: What Bf109 sub-type is this?

Is it me or is the oil cooler missing and it also has a different canopy too? Perhaps what appears to be a ducted spinner is the reason for the deletion of the oil cooler? More questions than answers!

eBay: What Bf109 sub-type is this?

I'm still not 100% sure... on one hand I think that this is the Bf109V-25, but just with a different paint scheme. But having said that, where are the series of ventilation slits between the spinner and the cowling on the Bf109V-25 images but not seen on the images found by Franck? The spinner also looks different between the two...

eBay: What Bf109 sub-type is this?

Interesting images. For those interested, we also have a thread that includes photos and details of the Bf109V-25 here... in fact, I may even merge the two together...

If your username is listed below, please check your email in-box and reply to the validation request. Full membership approval will not take place until you reply to this email. Please allow AT LEAST 8 HOURS from validating this email (or from the time against your username below) BEFORE you chase me as to why your membership hasn't been approved. There are currently no outstanding membership applications[/size] [correct as of 1515GMT 03/11/10] If you don't validate your membership within 4 days, you application will be deleted... If you think you've applied, but your username isn't on the list above, then you either: applied using an unsuitable username (unsuitable characters or unsuitable usernames) and therefore had your application deleted only just applied and I've not managed to update the list. If possible (I have a full time job too) I update it around 3-4 times a day failed to acknowledge the validation email in the 4 day acknowledgement window or... your email account bounced back the three consecutive authorisation emails and as a result, any application who's email bounces the validation email will be deleted without question.
