Hi guys'n'gals...

Just a quick note to make all members aware that if you post and then decide that you wish to edit your post, you now only have a window of 30 minutes from posting to perform the edits. Please note that you can take as long as you like to compose your posts, there is no time limit to this.

This change is as a result of some members here editing their posts after other have posted additional comments, therefore making the replies look as if they are stupid. The edit facility is there for you to correct silly mistakes, no re-write your complete post or add masses of new information. If you miss something out in your original post or wish to add new information, then just post again with what you wanted to say...

I would also ask that members who decide to edit their post complete the following two sections highlighted on the screen shot below:

Attached File  edit.jpg (38.74K)
Number of downloads: 5

  • Insert a "reason for edit" in the box (circled red)
  • Tick the "Add the Edit By line in this post?" box underneath (circled blue)

It is only fair to those who post after you to know that you have have edited your own post especially when a change can make the subsequent answers look rather silly...

If you feel you missed posting something in your original post but you have exceeded the 30 mins window, just add another post...

Can I remind all members, especially those who seem to think that 30 minutes is not long enough to be able to edit their posts, that if you spent more time when composing the posts to ensure that what you've written correctly before hitting the POST button, then there will be less chance of your needing to use the edit facility. The whole reason for your being able to use 30 minutes editing is to enable you to correct silly mistakes, not completely re-write your posts. If you have additional comments to add or wish to correct any previous comments, just post again... its not rocket science people...
